| It's a Man's World |
Thursday, January 26, 2006
|
Finally a woman (Norah Vincent) had the courage, inspiration, and dykeness to conceal herself as a man, go under cover into a guy's life, and write a book about it.Admittedly I thought she was going to rip guys apart and give evidence of our short comings, but instead seemingly gave credit to a man's maturity and intelligence.
I haven't actually read the book, only an article about the book in the New York Times and quite frankly don't have much interest in it. Because after all I'm a guy. But perhaps for a woman this may be a good eye opener, especially to those ladies who think all man have one track minds (which for the most of us is probably true).

Liberal propaganda doesn't usually thrill me nor does it even remotely interest me, up until now at least. I came across an LA Times Op-Ed article written by Joel Stein and was entertained enough to read his piece all the way through. Now mind you, I don't agree to any of his points of view on our troops and their efforts in Iraq, but the article put an interesting light on the situation.
Essentially he placed a little bit of guilt on SUV driving soccer moms with yellow ribbon stickers (" support the troops") on the back of their gas guzzlers.
And explained how the volunteering troops knowingly went in to sign up for the army and would inevitability go to war over seas. So if the troops ever bitch about the war, you have the self-evident right to tell them to shut their holes.
Anyway, if you have the time, I encourage you to read this article for at least one chuckle.

Being that Honda is the car of choice for me, I have to announce every news Honda comes out with. Therefore their new car Fit, needs to be discussed.

I'm not much for small cars, in fact I hated to drive around my Corolla back in the day when I first learned to drive just because it was so small. However, now a days when gas prices and maturity have set in, perhaps smaller is better. And what better time to consider a smaller car than the new Fit by Honda.
Sure it's still so new that not even edmunds had a chance to review it, but from Honda's reputation, don't be surprised that this particular car will do a heck of a lot better than the current small car available (i.e. Chevy Aveo).
The Fit has 109 HP, compared to the Aveo with 103 HP. No big difference, of course, but from the name brand alone, the Honda Fit is the better choice.

Went to the Los Angeles Zoo this weekend for some animal sights and sounds. Can't say I had the best time of my life there, but it was a heck of a lot more fun than other amusement parks (i.e. Disneyland).

Funny how they showed off this Maybach with champagne in the back seat at the LA Auto Show, considering it's illegal to have open alcohol in the car. I guess you better tint your windows and drink low.

It's almost surreal to read the transcription of Osama bin Laden's latest rant on Americans and our war. A part of me wants to understand him, but a part of me wants to kill him in the most brutish possible way. To make him feel the pains suffered not only by the victims, families, and loved ones of the September 9/11 attacks on unarmed civilians, but by every American citizen who felt their pain that morning.
"My message to you is about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and how to end them."
"But I plan to speak about the repeated errors your President Bush has committed in comments on the results of your polls that show an overwhelming majority of you want the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq."
"We don't mind offering you a long-term truce on fair conditions that we adhere to."
"We were patient in fighting the Soviet Union with simple weapons for 10 years and we bled their economy and now they are nothing."
"In that there is a lesson for you. "

The only American Idol season I watched all the way through was the first one. Now that season 5 started, I think it'll be the next season I watch. I guess you could say I like watching other people's misery, or embarrassment.

I can't really judge a person's singing too well, unless it's the people who can't sing at all, so I couldn't care less about good singers. I watch the show for the bad singers. I only wonder why their friends and family don't save them from the embarrassment.
The funniest moment last night was when some dumb blonde came on the show, she was all hookered up with her mom thinking she'd go to Hollywood. Her mother looked just like her and smiled through the entire rejection process.
What the hell is wrong with these people? Why put yourself on national television and show America what a moron you are. Agh, whatever. The show wouldn't be as good without them I guess.

Just watched the trailer to Flight 93. A film depicting the events that took place on September 11, 2001 on one of the airplanes hijacked by terrorists that left not only America, but the rest of the world in an entirely different mind-set. Whether or not I'll be able to watch this film is a whole other thing, but the trailer alone was quite moving.

Check out the interview with the director here. And trailer here.

I've been a Verizon subscriber for already 2 years on my wireless service and couldn't be more pleased with their one of a kind reception that works pretty much everywhere. The damn thing works in my underground garage for gods sacks. But they have one huge flaw that holds them back from becoming the best wireless provider on the market. Their selection of phones, or lack there of. As it stands they have a very small number of Samsung and Motorola phones that are hardly worth looking at. I think they even have a couple of cheap ass Nokias.
My contract is about to expire and I have my eye set on the Motorola Razr, even though everyone and their grandma have one. But what else is there? Nothing.
I was also considering changing providers and maybe going with the new Sprint/Nextel? Maybe they got better ever since the merger, I don't know.

Now that some time has past since the release of the Xbox 360 and the excitement has sort of died down, we can turn our focus on the next potentially big thing, the PS3. Here's a photo of the final design of the PS3 in both, silver and black. I'll be getting my in silver.

Listen to this Podcast from IGN on the PS3.

| Apple does it again, lies | |
I couldn't believe what I was hearing when Steve Jobs was showing off how Photoshop ran on the new Intel Core Duo and his exact words were:"While the performance of Photoshop is not going to be strong enough... for professionals... it's going to be great for most of us." - Steve Jobs

Here's the link to the video to check it out for yourself and see what I'm talking about. Basically what I took from this recent keynote was that Apple is still playing their little games with their customers. Lying to them about the performance results and hyping up the same thing they released years ago under a new name and prettier box.
Enjoy Apple users.

Next time you decide to insult someone on the web under a fake name, you might want to think again. A new federal law just passed prohibiting people from flaming others under a made up name. You can thank Bush for this one.

This maybe old news for some, but I just got myself up to speed with Depeche Mode news and evidently they have released three of their concerts for the PSP. I'll be placing my orders shortly.
And as a side note, I hope to God, Allah, or what have you, that Depeche Mode will once again go on tour. And if they do, I'll be going to at least five of their shows, at least.
