I couldn't believe what I was hearing when Steve Jobs was showing off how Photoshop ran on the new Intel Core Duo and his exact words were:"While the performance of Photoshop is not going to be strong enough... for professionals... it's going to be great for most of us." - Steve Jobs

Here's the link to the video to check it out for yourself and see what I'm talking about. Basically what I took from this recent keynote was that Apple is still playing their little games with their customers. Lying to them about the performance results and hyping up the same thing they released years ago under a new name and prettier box.
Enjoy Apple users.

you might want to watch the rest of the keynote... Until Adobe apps are compiled as universal binaries (to run on the new Intel Chips) the run through an emulation layer called Rosetta. Most of the major apps should be out in March with the pro machines out later in the year so it is a moot point.
Have fun with Vista! Oh wait... Vista won't be around until late '06...
Okay, so will Apple buy those new apps or do people have to shelve out thousands of dollars to purchase them again?
Vista? Why would I be so anxious for Vista? I have XP, works 10x faster than any Mac on the market and even more stable. I haven't restarted my PC in months now, no glitches what so ever.
In the keynote video they showed Jobs loading up Adobe Photoshop, it was so ridiculously slow. On my PC it loads twice as fast.
Actually most companies are going to be releasing updates. For Apple's Pro Apps you can trade in your old install CD/DVD's for new ones that have PPC/Intel installers for about $50. Or you can just upgrade to the new versions when they are released. Since most Pro's (people who rely on their tools to get their work done, not hobbyists) won't touch rev 1 hardware. They'll upgrade their machines after everything has been ported over anyway. If they don't wait they are morons.
As for the performance issues I am not sure why you have your panties in a wad. How can they lie to customers when he admitted that Photoshop doesn't have a native version out yet?
He was showing how the current PPC version works under Rosetta. He wasn't claiming it was faster than anything...
I was screwed over by Apple once, with their dot updates which cost me 100 or so bucks and this just seems analogies to that. They have way to frequent updates, which end up costing the consumer way too much for something that isn't very different than the previous version.
But hey, I don't care. If Jobs wants to introduce a product early and show nothing off, then it's his prerogative. I just don't see the point of investing money into something that won't outperform my $800 PC.
