She's the new nominee for the Supreme Court by President Bush and from various news channels she's getting quite the bashing. No experience as judge. No opinion (just yet) on Roe v. Wade. Never been married. And she's an ultra-conservative-religious-nut to top it off? Wow.I can't say I support Bush on all of his decisions and this is certainly one of them. Not only is he looking after himself with this nominee, but he's saturating (for at least the past 2 nominees) the Supreme Court with his conservative "buddies."
Here's a link to the transcripts from the press conference he held today, it lasted for about an hour.

Richard,
Happy New Year! I just wanted to say thank you. You mirror my setiments exactly. I know you believe that many democrats are over-emotionally charged irrational people (which many are), it is good to see that you can see the "truth" of a situation aside from partisan politics.
And I know that not all Republicans are only concered with Capitalism, but what disturbs me is that this country is swinging too far to the right. Family values is a good thing, but not when it means that Church and State should be blended, that Roe vs. Wade should be overturned, that abstinence should be taught as an alternative to distributing condoms to Third World countries- futher contributing the spread of AIDS and poverty, that "Intelligent Design" (Creationism in disguise) can be taught side by side with Darwinism.
I wish the American public would wake-up and speak out against this type of religious facism. It is not only unconstitutional, but it takes our country backwards. The democrats seem to be waiting to see which way the wind blows before they take a side, but we all pay a price in the meantime. If the democrats can't speak out for what is right, I hope someone else will. God Bless America!
Amen Brotha!
Happy New Year to you too! Glad to see you’re just as distraught about this as I am.
It's just too bad we don't have the voting power to keep this living virgin off the bench.
Maybe you can ask your editor at CSUN if you can write an article about it, if they haven't done one already. Also perhaps you can send a message out to the bloggosphere asking for help ;)
